How It Started
Wind River Greens started when we discovered just how much nutrition could be packed into tiny greens. After growing our first trays of sunflower microgreens, we were hooked—the crunch, the flavor, the fact that these little plants contain 4 to 40 times more vitamins than their full-grown counterparts.
We started sharing trays with friends and neighbors in Milton. The response was immediate: "Where can we get more?" Within weeks, we were growing dozens of trays a week. Within months, we were selling at the Alpharetta Farmers Market and delivering to doorsteps across North Atlanta every Sunday morning.
Today we grow over a dozen varieties year-round and serve restaurants, farmers markets, and hundreds of home delivery customers across Milton, Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, and Cumming.
Why Microgreens?
A single serving of broccoli microgreens contains up to 40 times more sulforaphane than a head of mature broccoli. Sunflower microgreens are loaded with protein, zinc, and vitamin E. Radish microgreens deliver a peppery kick along with vitamins A, B, C, E, and K.
These aren't vague health claims—they're backed by peer-reviewed research from the USDA, Johns Hopkins, and published in journals like the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. See the six studies we reference most.
We grow over a dozen varieties, each with its own nutritional profile, flavor, and best uses. Explore all of them in our Plant Variety Guide with growing calendars, companion plants, and USDA nutrition data for 878 varieties.
What We Stand For
-
Locally Grown
Every tray is grown right here in Milton, GA—less than 10 miles from most of our customers. Your greens never sit in a truck or a warehouse. They go from our grow room to your door in under 24 hours.
-
No Pesticides, Ever
We use organic seeds, premium growing medium, and filtered water. No synthetic pesticides, no chemical fertilizers, no shortcuts. Our controlled indoor environment means we don't need them—just clean growing from seed to harvest.
-
Harvested to Order
We don't pre-cut and hope for the best. Every order is harvested the morning of delivery—Sunday for home customers, market day for farmers market shoppers. That's why our greens last 7+ days in your fridge when stored properly.
From Seed to Your Door
-
1. Seed
We source certified organic seeds and soak them overnight. Each variety has its own ideal seed density—sunflower gets packed tight, radish gets more breathing room. We've dialed in the ratios over hundreds of trays.
-
2. Grow
Trays go into our climate-controlled grow room with calibrated lighting, airflow, and humidity. No pesticides needed—the indoor environment keeps pests out naturally. Most varieties are ready in 7-14 days.
-
3. Harvest
We harvest to order, cutting greens the same morning they ship. Each tray is inspected, weighed, and packed in ventilated clamshells to maximize freshness and shelf life.
-
4. Deliver
Sunday morning, your greens are on your doorstep—harvested hours ago, not days. We deliver free within 10 miles of our Milton farm to Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, and Cumming.
